Rapid Responce Recall on 600

Ok guys, help me out here because I'm not familiar enough with the new 600's so I'm asking the experts. If you read me other thread you would have seen me ask about the Dr. P chip for my friend.

Well he bought the stage 1 box and said that he is not impressed. :( I have to take his word for it as he's in AZ and I'm in CA. He's getting beat by a D-max while towing, and we all know that we can't have that.

So what he wants to do is build a nice tow rig with power... and he needs it down by the 22nd of this month. I told him the obvious things to do but PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong. Change the air filter to an AFE, since it's a AZ truck I'm pretty sure he already has 4" exhaust all the way out  so I guess the best thing he could do in that department would be to change the muffler?

He was thinking about doing propane but I know the Cummins aren't to happy with that? But he would only use it for towing. Like I said I need help here.

So what I'm asking is what's going to be the best way to build this thing? Chip, intake, exhaust, injectors?

P. S. The trucks a 4x4 Auto, with 3. 73's.

169 views and NO ONE has any input? Is that because no one has any solid input or is just afraid? Right now any info at this point would be great.

Im looking for simular info.

From the research ive done im looking at the TST box.

I dont think you can go wrong with the muffler and filter.

Please keep us advised of your friends status.

My duramax neighbor is also talking bit @#$%. And i cant wait to load his jeep on a trailer and set him straight.

call tst you will like the power and better mileage too. the 600's don't have a turbo replacement yet 'cause of the electronic wast gate so there are a few d-max that will out tow you... but they are few and far between.

First, does he care about mileage,It makes no sense to have a bomb truck just to get passed at every fuel stop, Also look at the cost of fuel,Last trip to Steamboat CO, and back home My buddy spend $550. 00 I spend $380. 00. He had A gasser 6. 0. When it came time to start climbing hills He never had a chance. He could do 80 85 mph on the flats right up to when he got is ticket in Iowa. Otherwise he was out of his power band ( we both had four Place snowmobile trailers)

What about longevity and durability. When you start bombing over 400 hp you will need to make MAJOR changes to Trans/engine Their is a saying : That"s the best driving I ever saw until your engine blew apart and it cost $5. 000. 00 to fix it.

Maybe the Dr. P didn't work well on the 600 but I know it works on the 03-04's not sure what he was expecting but any 60hp + increase is impressive (at least till you get used to it;) ) Air flow enhancements are needed and gauges to moniter every thing then comes the fuel, need more fuel:D it's pretty simple, just how you want to get there.

If you boost fool then you dont HAVE to have the actuator hooked to the wastegate, thats how the TST is controling the wastegate on the 600, and for replacement turbos people are pulling out the actuator and tieing it up to something out of the way as long as you boost fool (I know its kinda crude but it will work).

Anyway to answer the question its not how fast you or your friend want to go its how much you want to spend! twin turbo TST stacked with edge EZ stage v trans with 200 hp injectors usually works good! Or you could just put a chip with a good exh and intake to wake it up with any powertrain mods. My current set up works very well for towing or racing around and self control for now, more to come though! Also gauges should always be used for bombing and towing ITS CHEAP INSURANCE!

some do and some dont.

i have tried 3 ramifiers and none work. i have to bring it to massdiesel to have it dialed in with the computer..... james:D

I'm towing with the TST; on level 3; AFE intake; just put the ATS manifold on this weekend; new exhaust next weekend. So now my towing stats are with the TST & AFE; all else stock. Locked the cruise on 78 and had power to spare. Climbing hills the EGTs hit 1250 -- same as stock (didn't have the ATS on yet). But like I said -- power to spare -- if I put my foot in it while climbing a hill I could get the EGTs into the danger zone (so I didn't!). :D

Haven't slipped the stock clutch yet.

That's towing 10,000 lbs. Next weekend my trailer will be 14,000 lbs.
