in my manual, there are some ram1500 packages that had trailer brakes already installed from the factory.

Anyone know whether they’re good or is aftermarket (UHaul/Reese, etc) better?

I asked at the local dealership if there was a retrofit dealer install FCA OEM kit that would sit right in the dashboard, but, not at that time. (February, with a possibility of a March release)

Reason? Tidy! Right in the dashboard instead of looking like an afterthought.

I have the Integrated Brake Controller on my wifes 2019 1500 and it works great. I don't think there would be a difference between a gasser and a diesel. I compared my wifes truck controller with the one on my 2017 Ram 5500 and my wifes actually gave stronger results.

Hope this helps.

Cheers, Ron

For those interested, I talked to my Ram dealer’s service Dept this evening.
Part # 82215040AC for my application (looked up via VIN) and just under $700 installed. Yes, seems pricey compared to a UHaul install, but, tidy.

Will likely be doing before year’s end.

There was also a part number I found that ended “...AB”, but it turned out not correct.
