Has anyone used the Bullydog Watchdog Performance Monitor as anternative to traditional gauges? Were you happy with the choice?

I have one, and for my application is so-so. You may want to contact bullydog and see exactly which gauge functions will be supported by your pickup's ecm. Here's what I dislike about mine; on my early '04, fuel rail pressure is not supported, engine load registers from 0%-67% versus 0-100; and the fuel economy is way off. One gauge function on the bullydog displays fuel usage in GPH, and mine registers way too low, and shows zero at idle, when it should be 0. 5-0. 9. But I do have a smarty and probably makes the bullydog confused, which is fine as I didn't buy the bullydog for fuel economy purposes. Overall though, installation is obviously a snap, displays well in direct sunlight and dark, and a nice gauge layout.

I use BullyDog Outlook monitor, it shows rail pressure, pyro temps pre and post turbo(if you install the sensors), pyro defuel, water temp, mph, turbo boost, it adjust for tire size. Also it gives the option to check 0-60, 1/4 mile times, torque and hp. (I don't know how accurate the torque and hp monitor is). And it will adjust power levels on the Bullydog tuners and other tuners installed on your truck. This is very easy to install and use.

Its reading the data port therefore reading what the ECU sees, that is problematic at times.

Sometimes they are relatively close, others way off. Too much dependency on the data stream and the ECU interpretation. If you have an items that boost fool or other things they read an invalid number.

Digital displays are hard to read at a glance, a full sweep analog shows a position that you can get used to. A quick glance and you can tell if things are normal or something is off.

Less time trying to inerpret numbers means more time paying attention to whats going on around me when driving. THAT in itself is my big knock on digital monitors. :)
