When I was at Cummins yesterday, I asked them to check some small amount of oil on the pan nuts that I saw the day before. They told me that I have a leak from either the pan or the front crank seal gear housing(there was a small amount of oil around it also) or both. They said that the engine would have to be pulled to repair. So I called DC and will take it to them thur. This surely caught me with my pants down since there's only 28000 miles on it. I know it's going to be a hassle with DC. Man I'm not looking forward to this.

I believe the front crank seal can be replaced without removing the engine. Search the posts. There was one last week talking about how to do it.

BTW, I had oil where you are talking about and it was that stupid blow by bottle. I moved it back past the transmission with some 3/4 ID tubing from Home Depot and that mess disappeared. It was all over the front of the engine, front end parts and streaming back to the transmission. I'd clean that up and see if it's really leaking.

steve , are they sure its not coming from that freakin useless blow oil all over the place bottle ??? i have drips on the side of my engine , not sure if its the blowby bottle or coming from above , i am going to have the starter and fuel pump off this weekend and will start tracking it down .

Thanks for the feedback. I asked Cummins if it could be the blowby and he told me no way.
You can see oil on left side(facing engine) of the crank seal gear housing. It goes in today and I'll let yall know what they say.

Steve,

See my reply to the "oil leak=cracked block" thread from the other day. It will make you think twice about letting them rape your truck. I was told the trans and not the motor has to be pulled to get the oil pan off. This is what the DC service manual said too. Good luck
