I just finished up a 3000 mile trip to So. Cal. and back and was very pleased with the performance except for one odd little problem. When I was climbing a mountain pass in 6th and I let off of the throttle at between 55 and 60 to shift down, I'd get this quick dull grinding sound for maybe half a second. This is before I even touch the clutch. The only thing I can compare it to is the sound a chain might make if dragging or slapping across the inside of the xfer case. I don't even know if our xfer cases use a chain anymore but this is as close to a description of the sound as I can come. Anybody have any ideas?
I've just read the post on transmission shudder in auto's and I'm wondering if this may be the wastegate thing also. the noise seems to come from that exact location.
What do you guys think?
