I know that different plates give more or less fuel at certain points in the rpm range. What I don't get is how the arm can move on some of the plates with sharp bumps, like a stock or #6. A #10 is pretty smooth, so I can see how that would work. Can someone explain how the others work so that the arm doesn't get stuck?

The gov arm only contacts the plate when boost is over 6psi. The bump on the plate corresponds to gear shift rpm points when typically boost drops below 6. Most people don't realize that only about a half inch of the plate is used.
