Over the past month I have noticed a little blue smoke from the exhaust and its grown to quite an annoying amount. The truck has never used oil and now its used 2 qts or so over a 2-3 weeks. The BHAF connection was found to be quite loose around the time all this started and I'm thinking that some dirt was sucked up and dusted the innards of my cylinders? Any other ideas? Need to be bored, sleeved, rings, compression tested?

thanks... ... . Scott

That bites! Are you traveling through the area? Your sig says Alabama. I wouldn't think a little leakly filter would kill ya that quick. I had a bad K&N once and it didn't do harm like that.

Maybe what you see is actually a fuel system issue like sucking air and the oil usage is due to blowby? I had a miss and blue smoke for quite awhile with a fair amount of oil usage, but I've noticed recently now that the miss and smoke is gone my oil consumption dropped. I was using a quart every 500 miles and getting black spots all over the back of my truck. Recently that has gone away and oil usage is less than half that now.

oil consumption

Same thing happened to my 96 that happened to Andy's truck, compressor wheel had contacted the housing got real bad in about a week or two. Then I had to change turbos. (HX-35), Blue smoke had went away. Two weeks later the seal in the vacuum pump went out lost all oil pressure and twisted a main bearing on # 3 cylinder.

Not trying to worry ya but get to the bottom of what that is... sometimes it gets expensive, if not caught in time!

I just moved to Spokane from AL... . lots more diesels up here! :)

Im going to look into it further now that I have a second vehicle (Subaru STI) and can have the CTD down for more than 1 day.

Anyone know about Davis Diesel here in town? Major head work I dont wish to tackle myself right now.

Welcome to the NW

We had Davis Diesel hosted Diesel Thunder in Spokane last fall, but outside of that I can't speak for the kind of work they do. You could look into NW Custom down in Fairfield (Jason Burton). Also Shelley Automotive is a good bunch of guys but don't think they've wrenched many Cummins or diesels for that matter.

There's a number of guys in your area if you want to check out Northwest Bombers.
