Need a number

89 5.9L Cummins in a 1987 Fullsize Chevy Pickup

I have the opportunity to pick up an ISB 175 with an Allison.

What are my options as far as Bombing this engine?

How does the Allison compare to the 47RH/RE.

Looking at building another Hot Shot rig.

No suggestions

Come on guys, nothing??I was hoping you guys could help guide me through some bombing on this thing.

Would injectors help?

I'm thinking of going to Cummins and using their Power Spec software to wake it up a little.

Any input??

What are you motorhome guys doing?

Banks copped out because of the AT-545.

Doesn't the AT-545 have no overdrive?

An ISB is an ISB... . all the CUMMINS stuff should be a bolt on affair. (Injectors, turbos, etc... )

You could make it into a 700+ hp fire breathing monster if you want to.

Aren't the electronics different from Dodge to the rest?

Yes, everything else is a bolt on.

The question is "What to bolt on"

ATS is looking into the transmission mods for me.

So far they have made a great impression.

My goal is to top a hill at a decent speed towing a 50 footer with three cars on it (It's embarrasing when the guy picking up cans on the side of the road passes you).

Which stuff to bolt on....

Aren't the electronics different from Dodge to the rest?

sgriffing,

We've had a discussion about this, kinda sorta in the 24 Valve forum regarding a PTO lead someone found on one of the ISB's wiring harness. The long and short of it all is the Dodge ECM won't support the PTO throttle feature that is otherwise built into the ISB, and that's just the beginning of what we are limited to by the Dodge ECM.

If you want maximum flexibility and maximum utilization of everything the mighty Cummins was built for, you're gonna need to bolt on a Cummins (or Freightliner, etc. ) ECM. I ain't an expert but I've hear those black boxes don't come cheap (as in thousands - I think I heard 3).

Hope that helps. Good luck,

Jon

NOT A DODGE

It's not a dodge.

It's a bluebird bus chassis.

It has the "Standard" Cummins Black box.

That's why I am unsure of what to do with it.

Banks only deals with Pushers with a six speed.

This is a front engine four speed (Non-O/D).

Any Case tractor guys have any ideas?

You can certainly BOMB other ISB engines. Injectors and turbos are more productive then electronic mods!!! Several agricultural applications are using Bully Dog's timing boxes and I'll bet that Mike at Bully Dog can fix you up with one. Also if you want or need more electronics I would think that our Dodge, major fueling boxes that tap into the VP44 wires would work in the school bus application. I can help if a boost fooler is needed, don't worry-be happy:) :D.
