Where to buy?

Anybody in the business or know somebody good? I might be needing some financing and figured before I go in cold maybe someone here has a connection.

Thanks

Depends on what you are looking to use the money for. Is it truck related? Something totally different? The biggest obstacle in VC is the returns usually required by the groups. High tech fields like medical and computer related fields can get VC funding because of the potential for profit and returns. For most trying to get something started, more traditional routes of financing are better, and more available. Feel free to pm me if you want or need more info.

Agree with what Diesel Gopher said. Plus, nobody you met on an internet BB is going to be able to give you any credibility. Find a firm that has a portfolio of companies in the same market area that you are playing in, and start knocking on doors. Then get ready for the games to begin.

One favorite - "what could you do if we gave you more money?"

Another trick - "I don't think the market is ready for xyz. "

And then the old 'California No' - "You are moving a lot faster than us. " Most VCs will never say no, because they want to keep all the doors open all the time. You will need to develop a sense of when it's time for you to move on, and make a decision for them.

The game can be fun, but is also very frustrating. Good luck. ;)

I've contacted a few firms, and have been given great info. I just don't really like dealing with a people that I don't know anything about. A few of them I've got bad vibes from right off, but I'm sure there are great people in the business. That's who I'm looking for. I'm not expecting somebody to say "oh, here ya go". But I would appreciate a contact of a person or company that is pleasant to work with.

There are no VCs that are pleasant to work with - no matter what they say and what vibs you get. First time it is take a risk on you or hang you out, they will hang you out.

If you want someone pleasant to work with, find an Angel. Can't help you though without some idea of what you are doing. Every firm specializes in what deals are added to the portfolio.
