Just got off the phone with FCA. Call 800 853 1403 and follow prompts. They will tell you if you are even eligible for program and when you will get letter. Hope this helps

Why would you even want to sell this back to FCA?

My 08 is just the way I want the truck now. I have set the truck up for towing my 5er and I have spent close to $5k in accessories doing this such asa programmer, AL transmission pans/differential covers and so forth.

If I was to get a new truck now with the increase GVRW on the trucks, I would need a new driver licenses, a non-CDL class A. This is so I could tow my 5er and drive the new truck the combination with the increase GCWR of 26,001 LBS. I just keep my 08 which is debt free and enjoy the ride.

If your only trailer is an RV, I think you're exempt from a CDL.

Recreational Vehicle Operators — Illinois waives CDL requirements for drivers of a recreational vehicle operated as family/personal conveyance for recreational purposes. This includes motor homes, travel trailers and other recreational vehicles.

You did not read my post correctly; it states a non-CDL class A drives license. I received this information directly from a sergeant of the secretary of state police in Springfield IL, these officer work directly under the SECRETARY OF STATE in IL. Which is a different law enforcement agency than the State Police. The comment he made; was any combination of Vehicle Gross Weight Rating regardless of purpose would require the NON-CDL CLASS A license even a motor home over the GVWR of 26,001 LBS. If I towed this combination with anything to sell even in a RV trailer, I would then need the commercial license.

I inquired in a written letter to the secretary of state office since I purchased a new trailer this year with a 16,173 GVWR and the truck has a 9,000 GVWR. MY DW was thinking we may want to purchase a newer truck; but all of them have a 10,000 LB or more GVWR and this would put me over the 26,001 LB limit. Thus a new driver license with the NON-CDL CLASS A and retest.

Jim is there a medical card or letter that is also required with the NONcom-CDL? Calif requires this little item to.

I do not know this was never discussed. But knowing big bother and the way they are I would bet on it. Although IL is a little backwards when it comes to some of their decision making so maybe not.

A lot of people do not know about this little caveat on the driving license when towing their trailers. It could get them in the end with a ticket and parking the trailer.
