Has anyone ever bought a truck off of Ebay? I found a 2004 2500 that has what I am looking for. Buy it now is roughly $33,000. I can most likely get a 2005 for a little more but would have to order and wait for it. The truck is in texas.

Lots & Lots of them.

Ebay is a fantastic service... . it's as good as the buyer is smart... know what I mean?

Ask lots of questions, get lots of pictures, get the sellers telephone number & call him.

I can't see buying something that new being risky but if the guy seems flakey, don't buy it.

95% of the time someone gets burned on Ebay it's the buyers fault.

Don't trust the pictures the seller supplies... ask him to take pictures of every defect & if you're still leary but want the truck, call an appraisal service to go look at it for you.

Many smart people make their living buying good deals off Ebay & reselling.

There is lots of money to be made off the Internet if you know what you're doing.

Hope it works out for you!

Lou Grubb Dodge, here in Phoenix, had an ad in Sunday's paper (9/12/04). "2004 Ram 2500 Quad Cab 4X4 H. O. Diesel, 600 H. O. Diesel, CD, Auto, Anti-spin, Trailer tow & More. List price..... $38,988, Lou Grubb Price... $31,498, Factory rebate... -$2,500. Total... $28,998. (18 at this price). 1-877-557-1607 " Avondale Dodge. "2004 Dodge 2500 Quad Cab, Cummins H. O. Turbo Diesel, $34,970 MSRP, $2,500 Rebate, $6875 Avondale Discount, Your Price $25,595. 1-888-341-3000" I'm not affiliated with any automobile dealership. Just thought You would like to see these ads for comparison purposes, only. I don't know if there are a bunch of "dealer add-ons", which, raise the price dramatically or not. Seems like this is the end of the model year and the dealers want to unload the "old" stock before the '05's come in. Got my '03 on the last day of the year. Was the last day of their fiscal year and they wanted to unload as much stock as possible. Got, what I thought was, a great deal. Hope this helps. Joe.

Another thing to do when purchasing any used vehicle, CARFAX!! I looked at several Dodge's on Ebay before I bought one locally. Some of the ones on Ebay were rebuilds, one seller was not straight up on that until pressed, using the CARFAX report as evidence.

Just my opinion, I'm not affiliated with CARFAX or other reporting service.

Ohh, Don't misunderstand what I was saying... there's a ton of crap on Ebay.

For every good deal there are thousands of bad ones.

All I'm saying is A smart person can sort the good ones from the bad ones as you did.

There are lots of crooks on Ebay but there are even more at the car lot! :-laf

Marty,

I think we agree, I was just adding one more tool for PPFD & others to use to help evaluate the prospective vehicle. Ebay is definately a place for the buyer to beware. That said, Ebay is still a great place to shop, you just have to be careful.
