New to CAS
Hi there. Have you found some brass yet? I shoot .45 Colt and handload. I think all of my brass is loaded right now and I don't have very much anway, but the Cabela's in Sidney, NE has had .45 Colt pretty regularly. If you're still in need, I work in Sidney and I'd be glad to stop by and see what they have. If it's in stock there I think you can order it online. Just let me know. BTW, what do you shoot? I've got a Ruger Blackhawk .45Convertible. Blued with the 4 5/8" barrel. I load it as light as 250-grain lead bullets at 600 or so all the way up to 300-grain XTPs at 1100. I also shoot quite a bit of ACP through it and I've even loaded up some snake loads using Speer shot capsules.

Greetings CJMEYER1; sorry for delay. I'm RV'g in Central Florida and am shooting with a local SASS club each Tues. morning. We've attended 2 events & wondering if I can compete whilst down here. They're called the Wewahootee Vigilance Committee,
http://www.sassnet.com/clubs/Clubs_detail.php?Weewahootee-Vigilance-Committee-407 & a great bunch of 'mates'. Based upon previous research & picking brains all over on the web, I settled on loading about 2K rnds of 180gr, 45LC ahead of 6gr of Unique. Without use of a chrono, they concur the recoil, etc feels about right for 700fps-800fps with a 180 gr pill. No option to reload in my RV at this time, so that's why I was heavily scrounging for brass to prep for my trip South. We live in S.E. Wisconsin & having a once in 50 years Winter season...just terrible, but we got outta "Dodge' as they say!
I've been able to obtain 1000+ brass for $.074 avg. The big box stores are out of the question, as they price their brass like it was in a jewelry store. Many thanks for your concern & offer to help out.
I'm shooting Ruger New Vaquero's & changed the springs to the typical 'low power' mods. I was lucky to find a 1997 vintage Marlin 1894CB in 45LC. I cleaned, ground, polished, trued, flattened & otherwise eliminated friction where ever I could. It also has the 'low power' hammer spring & I modified the lever safety button spring to lighten it as well. This little button was so stiffly sprung I almosst had to wrap my thumb around the stock to bring the lever into full battery. I also arrived at removing 1.25 coils from the lever retaining button spring, which really helped me reduce the effort to open the lever with the back of my hand. I don't consider myself a tender soul, but it caused undue hesitation & threw off my timing.
I passed the word I'm available to go to the range for additional practice session, but no takers yet [as I'm not a member]. Well, that's about it for now. When I have a pic of myself all duded up, I'll share it, if you don't laugh! Play safe.
Best regards,
Wally
