I was just discussing this story with a fellow TDR member and he told me I should post it here.
A new friend of mine got a Banks Kit put on down in Florida last winter on his 2000 1 Ton, auto, 3:54. He's pulling a 35 foot triple slide, probably around 14,000 lbs loaded.
After he got the Banks kit put on, (incredibly the Banks dealer in Florida didn't tell him about needing any transmission mods before adding their 140hp kit to his truck).
He hot footed it back here (Ontario, Canada) for his father-in-laws funeral in April and blew the transmission up in Ohio. Think he was passing everything in site on the way back to make the funeral. They rebuilt the transmission at a DC dealership in Ohio and he just made it across the border at Windsor and blew up the rebuilt transmission. Only got a few hundred miles.
He had to get his 5er pulled back to Alliston (about 300 miles) by a friend of ours. Didn't have his truck back for about two months after that.
Anyway a mutual friend told him to get in touch with me. I told him to get in touch with Bill Kondolay as the second dealer in Canada where he had his truck towed to told him it would be $6000 for a new transmission. He finally got the DTT transmission installed.
I told him he better get a transmission temp gauge installed and he ended up bringing it over here and I installed it for him. Banks only installed EGT and Boost gauges in Florida.
