I own a 2004 2500 and have had absolutely no problems with it. It's just a little nice to be taking offroad. I have run across a good deal on a 98 2500 with 155k and am looking to buy it to have some fun with - offroading etc.

Are there any issues with this year model and the earlier 24v cummins? Is there anything I need to look for and that I should expect to fix if I buy one of these? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Its possible it has the old type timing cover,if so the killer dowl pin could come out and destroy the engine. do a search and see the problem and fixes. If the truck does not have gauges you need a fuel pressure gauge to know if the lift pump is working ok. if the pump fails it will take out the fuel injection pump $$$$. There are more problems with steering and suspension if its a 4x4. My truck is 2x2 and presently has 453,000kms. Also ball joints are more of a problem on the 4x4s. Hope this helps.
