Newbie here. This is a great site. I'm looking at a 06 3500 QC CTD G56 3. 73(SRW). I looking at a local dealer, I'm going to see if they will let me take it home for the night. I am aware to look for the driveline vibration (but not exactly sure about the symptoms). I don't guess there is anyway to check the lift pump or CP3? I am usually a GM gasser guy, any help would be appreciated.

1. What do I need to look for during the test drive?

2. MSRP (sticker) is $40,045. Is $34,000 out-the-door WITH 0% a good deal?

Appreciate the help,

I'll take #2 - $6000 off PLUS 0% is a pretty good deal. About $700 better than I would expect. Make sure they stick to it and dont add it other fees later :)

Answer: 1. Open hood and look for inline 6 labeled "Cummins" "24V" "turbo diesel"

Checking the lift pump and CP3. Answer: Yes, Make sure the CP3 is on the engine.

You can check for the lift pump by dropping the fuel cell.

Does it have limited slip diff? Other than that it sounds like a good buy. I noticed it was not 4X4, you might want to consider that. I always regretted not getting that in my old 2500.

Yes make sure you get 4x4. I just bought an 06 with 4x4 because the 05 did not have it. I figured Id never need it... boy was I wrong. Even if you really dont feel that you'll need it, remember the old saying. Its better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it. Also. I bought my 06 off of the previous salesman who sold me my 05 and he told me not to come in and purchase the truck until the weekend because they are allowed to offer more specials (money off) on the weekends. And he was right. I got 11,000 off sticker with 0%. Where if I went in on that Monday, I would have only got 8,500 with a "Dodge Loyalty" discount. Weekend specials maybe dealer dependent, but it never hurts to ask or find out. Good Luck. Oy yeah check the A/C. My A/C didnt blow very cold on the test drive... . So they topped the system off and now it blows like it should.

Mine had same issue new, you can tell by the passenger side vent,it will be warmer than the driver side.

The Dodge Loyalty discount was offered to me because I had bought an 05 the previous year. So now that I already bought a Dodge and now Im buying another one. They called it a "Dodge Loyalty Discount" which wasnt much, 500 off sticker, but hey 500 bucks off for something I was going to do anyway is a nice little incentive. Ask about it if you have purchased a Dodge in the past.
