Since the 1st of the year I have been diagnosed with diabetes and my Doctor(s) have prescribed Avandamet to help lower my blood sugar.

The dosage started out at one a day, then two a day and next week will move to 4 a day. This stuff is kind of expensive, just bought a 120 pills at the local pharmacy for $233. This is going to be $7. 77 a day, starts to add up, if I need this for the long term, which I suspect will be true.

A quick search on line found a bunch of Canadian on line drug stores selling this for about $150.

Of course anyone that lives in Canada buys their drugs there and I suspect the quality is first rate. My question relates more to the legalities of purchasing this in a foreign county for Americans and further more is that a reliable way to go both from a service and quality standpoint?

Any US members using a mail order or internet Canadian Pharmacy care to share their experiences?

I searched the site here but couldn't find anything, I thought about everything had been discussed here at least once, LOL.

I am looking for non drug solutions too, watching my diet, etc. , but it looks like short term at least I will be on these meds.

Our HMO run out last july so we had to do something for our drugs. I investgated a few and found differing prices. We setteled on Canadadrugs. Orders over $100. 00 is shipped with no shipping cost. While they tell you up to 15 day delivery time we had ours in about 5-7 days. they ship from different places, we even recieved some from Texas, I recieved one of mine from Australia. The experience has been good and they remind you when your renewal for some items should be do. Its cheaper to do the 90 day and I have found it to be connvenient. They are secure and you use a credit card. Compared to local cost we saved about $400. If you are intrested, and you go with them, on your first order, and you use me as your referal, you get $10. 00 off on your first order as do I on my next order. just an incentive they have for -word -of-mouth advertising. You can apply on line and they have other non- prescrip items also and save a little money. Hope this has helped some.

I haven't bought any drugs on line, but I've been looking at prices of what I take.

You should beware of some online drugstores. I caught a virus in my computer from one.

Reputation is EVERYTHING. Get a place with a good rep.

PS Have you asked your Dr for samples? I know this isn't a permanent solution, but it could hold you over until you get a regular supply lined up.

Thanks for the replies.

Marv, if I go that route I will take you up on the referral deal.

The Patriot, that is my biggest concern, thus the post. I already know you can save money, but if the reputation is poor, then I can't take the risk.

I got a 2-3 week supply of samples, and then bought 120 additional pills for $233, that is when I decided I needed to shop my options, since that is going to be a monthly ongoing expense.
