I recently bought a 7 yr service contract for our Honda Accord at a greatly reduced price from a dealer in N. Y. Apparently these contracts are competetively offered. My 3 year bumper to bumper is up in June and I was wondering if anyone knows of a dealership that has good deals like this (or is this only available on new contracts?). Anyway, DC offers several tiers of coverage that are pretty pricey. The one I'd be interested in (Added Coverage) costs $1120 for 5 years and only goes to 70K overall miles (I only put about 10K on p/yr. )

I bought my 7 yr/100,000 for my '03 in Jan. '04 from Chaprell Dodge in Ada, Oklahoma for $1810. 00. Ask for Rick Masters; he's one of the owners and runs the office end. I also bought my Chrysler/Dodge "Diesel Essential Care" oil change coupons from him; dealer oil changes -- with 11 qts oil, filter & lube -- are now around $17. 75 each.

You can dicker with the dealer for a better price on service contracts. I ended up talking mine down half. But frankly, even at that price I dont think I'll get my monies worth. This truck has just been too reliable!

Try www.chryslerwarrantys.com

Just bought the extended warranty for the Jeep CRD and they were the cheapest I found nationwide. Put your email in when it prompts you to get on the mailing list and you'll get an instant rebate - mine was $190.

The Service Contracts offered by DC are a good deal because you are covered at any DC dealer. With that said, the list price for the contract is 100% more than the dealer pays DC for the coverage, if you buy it when the vehicle is purchased new. There is a service charge as the vehicle gets older. I don't remember the exact amount of the extra charge, but if you can get them within 2 to 4 hundred over half the list price you are doing ok. In my eyes you can't expect them to sell them at cost because the F&I people would not make their pay. Basically, I am just telling you there is room for negotiations on the price of the contract.

There are aftermarket plans out there, but the dealers don't have to honor them because the companies have refused to pay on occasion. Sometimes you would have to pay the bill and then try to get a refund from the aftermarket company. That is just my experience with the contracts that are out there and I have worked for a dealer for 30 years, so take it for what it is worth.

Yes, I did the same thing for our new '06 Honda Odyssey Touring and probably bought the policy from the same dealer as you. The policy from Honda arrived in the mail a couple of weeks later. It was easy and much less expensive than the offer from a local dealer.

I don't know of a Dodge truck dealer who does the same thing.

I've often wondered if I got a fair deal on my extended warranty. I purchased the Platinum, 6 year / 100,000 mile, zero deductible plan from my dealer for $1557. I didn't realize it at the time that the company, Fidelity Warranty Services, was not a Daimlerchrysler product. Anyone have experience with this company and/or what a competitive price is?
