Buying the stuff people are saying about diesel prices?

Well it's America and you can believe what you want but here's my take. People talk about oil companies are just keeping with inflation, oil companies set the price through zoning of their stations, oil companies arent really making a profit because they are putting it all back into exploration (while the CEO's get HUGE bonuses and they post 40% + profits) blah blah blah



This is what I see in my town:

one station is consistently cheaper on Diesel then anywhere else in town, even cheaper than there sister station in town. Everywhere is at least $3. 39 right now except for this guy, he is at $3. 07. He is always at least . 25 cents cheaper than everyone else. He is still in business and still has diesel so I doubt he is selling for less than cost and his company "isn't punishing him" for selling lower.



One of the competing stations is directly across the street, they are at $3. 39 and you know what? People are still buying diesel there!! You can complain all you want but as long as people are still willing to pay that kind of price even when it is . 30 cents cheaper across the street all the oil companies see is "sucker" written across our foreheads and they will charge whatever we will pay.



My take on the one station is that he is just an all American guy who can make a decent profit and a decent living without putting everyone in the poor house knowing they depend on fuel for their jobs and homes. Everyone has their opinion and your welcome to yours but this is mine, I'm not hearing all that other BS.

I have nothing against making a profit. After everyone has to make a profit to stay in business. I don't necessarily blame these high prices on the local guys. But there is no denying that the major oil companies are making huge profits! I live in the middle of the oil patch and have talked to lots of folks that work for oil companies. They are even saying that the big bosses are admitting to the obscene profits!

I heard on the news this morning that there is going to be a congressional hearing with some big wigs from the oil companies to explain there enormous profit increases, without the price of fuel falling. I didn't get all the details just caught part of it on the radio. But maybe someone finally took notice to the rediculous price gouging.

That is becoming an annual Dog and Pony show...



Folks complain about erratic and irrational rising energy costs, a group of Congressmen and Senators form a "hearing" to investigate - a few under-the-table "campaign contributions" change hands behind the scenes, and the proclamation is announced, "We didn't find anything wrong" - and it's business as usual all over again...



It's time for folks to stand up PUBLICLY in newspaper forums, Internet forums, and in the voting booths, DEMANDING that those elected properly represent the best interests of this country by shifting energy reliance away from foreign shores, back within our own borders.



If our own USA technology could be influenced to develop an energy source that didn't rely upon crude oil or it's derivitives, THIS country could make crude oil obsolete - and have all the countries currently looking to OPEC for their energy supplies beating a path to OUR doors!



THEN, perhaps we would stop seeing our warships and soldiers heading to the middle east to bleed and die - and the Arabs could DROWN in their own oil-soaked sand!

Heres one for you. I haul fuel for a living 23yrs. In the town I pick up from the pipeline regular unleaded at the stations is running $2. 45 to $2. 51 a gallon. I haul it to stations 100 miles south of there & it is $2. 73 to $2. 78 a gallon. Yet no one can answer why there is a 30 cent spread per gallon in 100 miles when transportation cost for that mileage is 2 1/2 cents per gallon.
