Question for TDI owners

After not being on a sled for 30 years, I went riding with a buddy yesterday and now I want to get back into it. I am thinking about buying a 90's sled, either Ski Doo or Polaris, spending about $1500 to $2000 ball park. Anyone have any recommendations? One guy I talked to told me not to consider a Polaris under 600cc because of piston issues? My buddy told me not to consider an Artic Cat because of reliability issues and to get anything fan cooled.

I don't need anything fast, just reliable (I am almost 45, not 20) :-laf:-laf

Thanks for your help/advice.

You can get a darn nice newer sled for that price range. Being that you feel that you are no longer young I would go for a newer sled because the suspension will treat you much better. If you are not a power hound, I would look at a Polaris 500 fan cooled RMK with 136 inch track. That will be just right for someone like your self who would like to ride the trails, but would also like to hop off and do some ditch banging from time to time as well. Good very reliable motor as well. 2000 or newer Cats are very reliable and have next to no motor issues, Doos, have clutching issues (at least the newer ones), and Poos 800 motors blow up all the time.

I just think a fan cooled would suit you well because you do not have to worry about one more system to maintain and then you also do not have to worry about enough loose snow being kicked up on the heat exchanger to keep the sled cool when your ridding down a road.
