I have an 06 Quad cab, stock except for a Pacbrake. Recently, have experienced a buzzing or vibrating sound from the dash, when starting from cold. This noise has been getting louder and louder. Seems to increase and decrease with the cycling of the grid heater, then disappears after a few minutes as things warm up. Does not appear to be connected to the Pacbrake, radio, or heater fan, as turning these on or off does not affect the noise. Any ideas or insight would be welcome. Mileage on thr truck is approx. 133,000 km. , and has been trouble free so far.

I'd suggest it's just the dash mounting coming a bit loose after years of vibrations from the engine. These naturally change slightly when load changes (like when the grids cycle).

You don't say where you're located, but if you're in a cold climate it could be shrinkage from the low temperatures. (Funny, I use the same excuse on my wife. )

Can you silence the buzzing by putting pressure on various areas of the dash?

Thank you for your replies, I'll check into the relay. I have pretty much eliminated parts of the dash.

I have noticed mine has a rattle/clatter like a relay also. It only happens on cold starts. Not sure on how cold it has to be, but in the afternoon when the temp is up into the high 20s I dont notice it.

Cab noise/sounds can be almost impossible to find. I had one for years that I could not track down. Finally found it by accident, it is/was the passenger seat belt latch. It is a buzz sound.

Mine does does it too and I have about 133K on mine as well. I didn't really notice it on mine until after I installed my High Ram intake. I've checked the torque on the High Ram mounting nuts and they have always been tight. But like the others, the buzzing sounds like it's coming from the dash and not the engine compartment.

Took the truck to Fisher Dodge, Yuma. They determined the noise was caused by the Pacbrake compressor. Apparently it starts running as soon as the ignition is turned on. This compressor is exactly one year old, and the increasing noise is a concern (to me). Will talk to Pacbrake to see what they think.

It would be easy enough to turn it off so you can double check their finding. Some techs will see an aftermarket part and automatically blame it.
Do you have an air storage tank for your Pac?

Prairie Dog is right. I don't have an exhaust brake for some Tech to blame the buzzing on. If you do get a chance to test it, I'd be real interested to know what you find.
