By-pass Filter?

Could some one help, please... what is a oil by-pass filter rig? Thanks be-fore hand.

Simply, it is a filter that operates at a very low volume and a higher filtration.

Many seem to operate in the 1 or 2 micron range (real small stuff), and there are many views on the best products, but the basic idea is to catch the stuff your primary (full flow) oil filter can't catch.
