I agree with you about Toyota but they limit you on options, you want 4x4 you can get only a short bed, you want blue you have to get double cab. Maybe they will make a 3/4 and 1 ton and won't be so picky about choices.

I agree, but this is partially the reason why GM has had so many problems. When you offer 95 variations of 3 models, it gets a little expensive to produce. I too am hoping for the Toyota diesel in the next couple of year. Maybe if I start saving now, I could afford the down payment by '08.

Yeah and the big rigs are getting all that wimpy foolish airflow look. For my money I want to see a big square snoot out there in fromt.

Not sure the best place to post, but for us who liked the big brawny semi truck look of the Dodge Ram is going away in 2009.

Man, am I glad I bought the '05 with the 5. 9 CTD.

I love the big-rig style, Dodge will shoot themselves in the foot with a Heavy Duty truck styled along the lines of the Dakota.

Makes me want to take even greater care of my truck, so it'll last even longer.

Diesel Thunder.

The post info is directed at the 2009 1500 pickups...

Maybe dodge will differenciate between the 1/2 ton and 3/4, 1 ton models like ford? I hope so cause I like the big rig Ram styling.

I love the look of the next gen Toyota truck, BUT I'm beginning to question the overall benefit of going diesel anymore; from overly complicated emission controls and extra-expensive parts to costlier-to-produce (and buy) diesel fuel the 'every day' benefits of owning a diesel are becoming much harder to justify. It's getting to the point that if you don't hot-shot or haul for a living you're almost better off with a gasser.

My truck model year was the last without ANY emissions equipment on it. With 140K on the clock now, hopefully it will last a few more years before I have to make that next decision.

I agree with that. I bought mine to tow my toy hauler for racing but I did not race last year and won't be doing too much this year. I going to sell the trailer and now I am fighting with thought of getting a gasser.

Of course everytime I make the gasser decision I drive my truck and want to keep it. ;)

I hope they bring back the first generation look!! Much like the Mustangs of today a retro look of the Ram would be great. Never have warmed up to the "big rig" look.

Also, agree about the gas comment. The only advantage I see with diesel is the ability to burn biodiesel.

well with all the disliked changes of the new trucks and the addition of all the "extra" emissions stuff hopefully we will see companies offer cheaper rebuilds. would like to keep this truck for a long time if i can keep up with the payments till its paid for.

Most japanese cars and wanna-be trucks are boring to ugly now. I can't stand the Tundra and the Nissan Titan is worse looking than the Dakota.

So I guess if Ford gets it right... . I doubt it. .

Whats left... GM just destroyed their already wimpy ugly design with an even worse look.

Ford SuperDuty will be the best looking TRUCK but the engine is not in the cards for me.

Time to stay used I guess.

Would not a Ram with a big flat Nitro like grill/front end still have the big rig look? Cab forward design could be a plus too. Food for thought.

Sorry... if it does not have the characteristics of a Pete or KW standard long snoot than it is just a whimp!!!
