I have installed the Amsoil bypass filter by making a steel mount bracket that is up against the passenger side battery (2002 Ram 2500 quad cab). I was told that heat generated by this system could be a problem to the battery. It does cause the metal bracket to get somewhat hot. Is this a cause for concern and if so, what type of solutions are suggested?

I had mine there too and found it to be in the way of everything and was concerned about the heat so I found a mounting hole on the right side of the block under the turbo, I made a bracket to support the bypass filter and it is working out great, I do have to crawl under the truck to change the filter but no biggie.

Cheers, Kevin

I have a single bypass unit mounted on my battery. The mount is a flat piece of stainless steel that replaces the battery strap it's about 2" wide and overhangs towards the engine about 2". There is a aluminum block approx ( 1"x3"x6") that mounts to the bottom side of the strap and then the oil filter head attachs to that. I don't think much heat makes it through the aluminum and stainless to the battery. It is not really in the way because I can undo the two battery hold down bolts and set it out of the way. I also rubber coated the strap to minimize the danger of shorting.
