Twin Turbo Setups

I'm looking at buying/installing the Amsoil BMK 11 Bypass filter set-up. I'm not real interested in running a synthetic oil and or the extended oil change intervals. Is the Bypass advantageous with a quality Dino and normal oil change intervals or am I throwing money away? Also is the BMK 11 set-up a good choice for my application. I plan on keeping the motor stock with the exception of maybe an exhaust and intake upgrade. Thanks for the help.

Better filtration is always better... . :)

I'm sure the Amsoil setup is fine, but have no experience with it. My oil analysis always comes back good with my bypass filtration setups.

I doing exactly what you are proposing... running 10k on Rotella 15w40 with an Amsoil EaBP100. Considering the "recommended" OCI is 15k, I'm still under that. Do you really need it, probably not as there are a lot of high mileage trucks out there without bypass filtration... but it can't hurt either!

The bypass gives me that "warm and fuzzy" feeling, don't really need it, but I like it. I did a UOA at 10k and things looked good.

I'm running the EaBP longer than Amsoil recommends... having the return to the filler cap allows me to monitor oil flow from the EaBP100 and I can see when/if it plugs... I have around 23k on this filter currently. Since I am not relying on it to work, I could safely run until it plugs if I wanted to...

Thanks for the info Steved... ... Are you noticing a "cleaner" oil with less soot with your visual inspections?

My oil still turns black... these newer CTDs (with emissions) make the oil black regardless of what you do...

I can say that while the oil is still black, I can spread a film of it over something clear (a plastic bottle is what I use) and the oil is visibly clear... not that my observations mean a thing, but it looks like dark oil and not black sludge.

Wipe the black oil in your hands then Rube together no stains 98. 9% soot gone thats the AMSOIL way  That with the By-Pass System setup and 15w40

Amassaro... ... What bypass set up do you use?

I have an Oilguard unit that filters down to one micron. That feeds into a Motorguard unit which is sub-micronic. My oil is dark no matter what. The important thing is my oil analysis comes back excellent every time. That makes me feel good... :)

I'm running the Amsoil bypass, very pleased with it. I did not put it on to extend the life of the oil, just to get better filtration. I am using the Valvoline Premium Blue 15w40 recommended oil and changing my oil every 6K and the bypass filter every 12K. My objective was to get better particle removal beyond that of the Stratapore. I chose the Amsoil bypass because of both cost and ease of use. It was easy to install and will be easy to use/maintain.

I will only say this test doesn't prove anything... in the environmental world we call this dilution... "dilution is the solution for pollution"... I don't know why this is a "test"???

I could take my oil before the bypass and "wipe my hands" with it and the black would more/less disappear.

The hand demonstration will show if there is large amounts of soot in the oil, but the ONLY REAL way to test for soot, is to have it analyzed!

Having said that, my last oil analysis report showed SOOT/SOLIDS at 0. 78 and VISCOSITY was 14. 57 CsT@100 C, with 54,800 miles on the oil, and 62,900 miles on the truck. I am using the Amsoil BMK-11 with Eabp-100 and 15W-40 oil.

I would say my by-pass and oil are doing a great job!

With 10k on regular Rotella 15w40, I had 0. 4 insolubles and viscosity was 79. 5 SUS (range is 69 to 80). Guess mine's not working too bad either...
