where could i find a CAT bypass oil filter for the 12v. or what is a better option for a 2 micron filter, and what is the approximate price.

thanks in advance.

by the way just incase anyone wants to know, i got in contact with tom from turbo resource. a garrett stage 2 is 1775, stage 3 is 1875, 156 for 12v water line kit, and 175 for hx-40 downpipe.

yea ive looked at amsoil before. they have a bunch of parts that you need for the setup all sold seperately and after you get them all the price really starts to add up. im lookin for a complete kit. thanks though i probably should have mentioned that earlier.

Amsoil is the best filter available. Yes you have to buy the parts separately because there is no standard install location for these things. PM me if you would like to purchase, I'm a dealer. Automatic discount for TDR members. PM Neal if he is a dealer as he replied first.

the year is 95, i was lookin through the amsoil site and am now more confused. can someone tell me the system number i need, the filter element, and the extra bits to install it please and thank you.

by the way, i heard that with the older engines, the marine oil is actually better for the engine than the conventional sythetic. can someone confirm or deny.

I run the AME "Marine" oil in my truck, its the best for any 5. 9.

The kit you need for a bypass is BMK-21.

KBurgoyne,

You save almost 70 dollars off the retail price by becoming a Preferred Customer. The bypass filter gets changed every other oil change or at least 60K miles. Sent you a PM with pricing.

prices sounding much better. so the kit and the element are all that is needed for complete install? the sites says something about a few aditional parts to ease in installation. do they just change where the filter gets mounted?

i mount my filters on the frame. it keeps the clutter out from underneath the hood. get the 110 filter with the bmk21 kit. do not change the filter untill it no longer flows oil, this is the point it filters it's best. at each oil change just feel the filter and if it is warm it is good to go. the 95 does not clog the filter like the cr's do. on our p pumps we can get about 10 oil changes between filters. go to a chivron dealer and get a 5 gallon pale of dello 15w-40 non LE oil. this is the old ci4+ oil. the pix is a big cat filter but this is where to mount

With a 2nd Gen and lots of space under the hood, I mounted mine by the battery. It's all been there since around 2000 (mounting bracket, hoses, filter kit), filters are easy to change, it hasn't needed repair, and it has been in the way only once or twice. See Mounting Bracket for 2nd Gen Dodge Ram Diesel.

If you put it on the frame it'll be easier to reach too. depends on where you put as to additional parts needed. Good thing about this group is there is so much help available on anything and everything.

Wondering what effect mounting the filter parallel to the ground has on its effectiveness/life? The destructions on Amsoil's site seem to indicate that is the least desirable position to mount the filter, although I agree it makes for a nice clean install.
