I am going to install a Oil Guard oil bypass filtration system on my 05 CDT; has anyone installed a oil bypass system on their truck.

I have used the Amsoil bypass system in my other truck and my bigger lawn mowers. It works really well. I am looking at the FS2500 by Filtration Solutions for my 05 Dodge, anybody have any information on this one?

I've had my Oil Guard on the truck for two years and am happy with it. Mounted on the frame rail below the passenger door, needed a lot of hose.

We have the FS2500 on our... ... 99' F-350 (Motor & Transmission filters), 05' F-350 (Motor & Tansmission filters), & our 02' cummins. We could not be happier. This filter by far is the best and has the independant documentation to prove it. We deal with Chris Williams at Filtration Solutions give him a call he is great to deal with.

I had the OilGuard on a Powerstroke and liked it. I have an Amsoil bypass on my wife's Caravan and it seems to work well. On my 2005 CTD I'm using Motorguard toilet paper bypass filters for motor oil, transmission fluid and engine coolant. All are mounted on the exhaust manifold heat shield. They seem to be working nicely, are not expensive to maintain and may filter better than most other bypass filters. You be the judge. Racor -802 lfs

I put a lfs-802 on my 05 . I mounted it horazontoly on the motor using the 5/16-18 holes above the exhaust manifold on the head. I made a bracket out of 4x4 angle iron with a smaller brace to the bolt holding the exhaust manifold shield. I've had it for about 6k . Works well.

I use the FS-2500 Bypass also never any problems. I removed my Amsoil bypass for this system as it just plain works better.

I also use it on my Semi's and will be putting it on my new 06

Cummins says about by-pass

Here is what Cummins sent me regarding a by-pass system:

Thank you for contacting Fleetguard.

Steve, Cummins Engine Company neither recommends nor encourages the use of by-pass oil filters on the B engine

because improper use of the by-pass lubrication filter, it MUST meet the following requirements:

A. Oil flow restricted to 1 GPM by using a 2 mm orifice in the by-pass filter supply.

B. A check Valve in the supply line which only allows flow to the by-pass filter supply.

For more information on this issue you may call Cummins Technical Service at 800-343-7357.

Anybody running one of the Premo systems?

i researched the premo system - the cost was high and the oil heating system didn't make much sense. oil heats itself, you just have to make those longer trips with sustained operating oil temps. the little filter on the premo looks like it would have to be changed alot also.

i went with the amsoil single bypass with their largest filter (be-110). single bypass is the way to go - the dual can't handle the oil pump of the ctd and in turn is noisey. plus, you obligate yourself to buy another amsoil product (filter) (with the dual bypass system) which i think are way over priced anyway.

good luck
