Is anybody using the Cobra cb where everything is in the mike? And if so does it seem to work good or should I buy a regular cb.

Get a standard CB Those mike controlled one are okay for a while, but the replacement parts (Mic Control) are probablly not cheap. I run a Cobra 148 or when I get it fixed a Connex 3300 HP. Also, don't skimp on the antenna, the best radio ain't worth spit without something to send thru Big Bob sells a GREAT mount that fit's the '05's and still allows for the center console storage access, and is well worth the price.

I bought one a few days ago and installed it. So far it works great and I would buy it again. It came highly reccomended by acouple knowledgeable friends. You cant "turn it up" like large cobras and galaxy's but it serves its purpose well.

May not be able to turn it up just the same but mine is B. O. M. B. E. D. , or peaked and tuned as they call it :-laf . I like it, it may take alittle getting used to but it is very convienent, its a Cobra they're top of the line plus I want more room in my truck, the remote mount is very small and fits darn near anywhere.

Which Cobra do you have? Just about all of them except for the little plastic bodied 18's and 19's can be turned up.



Heck I have a older Cobra 25 that's heavily BOMBED Oo. :-laf



Had a Uniden Grant XL that was even more bad, but I sold it because I'm hardly ever on the CB anymore.

Yeah I can see where you wouldn't be able to do anything to those.

The radio works well, just not as "user" friendly as a full size radio. The audio level is a little low, and adding an

external speaker makes a big difference. There is a "port"

in the base unit to "plug" in a speaker.

Yeah I can see where you wouldn't be able to do anything to those.

Accually, as I said in my first post you can turn them up! Mine is up close to 20 watts, not as much as some but much more then the 4 watts they come with.

I have had one for about 2 years now and i absolutly love it. I didnt want a box mounted on the floor taking up space. Like everyone else said it does take a while getting used too, but other than that its a great little cb, plus the weather channel comes in handy once in a while.
