I want to mount c/b antenna on the side mirrors. I was wondering if I could go through the black plastic cover where the mirror shaft mounts to the door. Is there a way to pull that plastic piece off so I can string the coax through?

You would have to remove the mirror completely to put it through there. I just installed new mirrors so I had an intimite look inside. Once you remove the mirror, there is a seal for the cable harness to run thru (assuming you have power mirrors). Then there is a big foam plug in the door for you to go through. You can do it but it's going to squeeze the coax when you put the mirrors back on unless you make some kind of relief. You could go under the hood right there at the mirror, thru the firewall and into the cab. My antenna is mounted on my tool box rail and I ran the coax under the cab and through the firewall. If you decide to remove the mirrors, take this tip. Fold a shop towel and lay it under the mirror bolt mounts inside the door. That will keep the nuts from falling into the door in case you lose your grip.

You can go under the hood then down in the quarter pannel. On my 96, there was a fiber board panel that would pop out, you run it around that and in a grommet in between the door hinges. It is a tight fit to go through the gromet, but it will go through. then run it where ever.
