I need some expert help (experienced help?) selecting two CB's. The one for my Ram will be the bigger one. For the Ram I am looking for Fairly high output because I get tired of getting squashed by rude powermongers but it doesn't have to be a billion watts:rolleyes: I would like side band and some bells and whistles but strong dependability is more important. I am curious about export radios. Are the freq's the same as cb 40 channel? I plan to use a wilson trucker 2000 antenna either door jamb mount with extension or roof mount NON Magnetic. For the Dakota; A more simplified unit with output in the 25-50 watt range. Easy for my wife to operate. Not too pricey. We are moving from California to Maine at the beginning of March so time is a factor which puts Ham out of the question, (time to study and get liscensed). Do I need to get an external (seperate) SWR meter to set it up or are radios with built in units acceptable? Do you have links to your suggestions? Thanks in advance for your info. Dennis

P. S. Can someone explain 10 meter radios?

Send me an email and I will help you out. As soon as you talk 10 meter and high power the hamsters on our site get all bent out of shape.

They make some radios that come from the factory putting out over 50 watts (AM) and 100-200 watts (SSB). Theyre not cheap.

If you want to talk with the big boys, plan on an amplifier. Figure 300 watts minimum.

I used to sell these. If you tell me what youre looking at, and the price, I can tell you if theyre beating you. The markup varies greatly on these. Some guys dont mind ripping you off.
