The other day I was pulling a car out of the snow and my ABS and Brake lights came on. The car was high-centered so I had to rock it a bit. I really didn't think anything of it because I shut it down and fired it right back up and the lights were out. When I got home I cycled the key 3 times and no codes, but when I held the trip counter and cycled once I got this:

C-Code

A7 00

00 00

I can't find anything on here even close to that. Any help would be appreciated. Just curious. Thanks in advance.

when you were pulling the car out did 1 or more of your tires spin? could be a wheel speed code since one was spinning and the others were not.

I got stuck in the snow one time and mine came up with those codes too. I never saw it again. After 9 starts it should go away unless the problem persists.

Thanks for the reply guys. I would have responded before but my subscription had run out. Anyway, CBrahs, there were at least 2 spinning because I was in 4wd, but not that fast. I am not sure how fast is too fast, or if any difference is too much. It has been a little over a week now and the code is still there. Is this a code that would register if I went to a parts store and had them scan it? If not does anyone know where I can find a list of codes and their translations. I just don't want to go to the dealer unless I have to, because I don't want to mess around with putting the cat and muffler back on just to have them tell me that it's nothing big and clear it. Thanks again for ya'lls responses.

HD,

On my 04. 5 to run the Instrument Cluster diagnostic you make sure the OD display is on total miles, not trip miles. Turn key to on position and push and hold OD/Trip button down until instrument cluster go banannas with lights, etc. When it is done it will display any Instrument Cluster Trouble Codes on the OD display just like DTCs. It will display 00 00 when finished displaying any set codes. The display format of the cods is xx nn, where xx is the code and nn is the number of times the key has cycled after the code was set. I think that is what the number is referring to anyway. Here is a list of the Instrument Cluster codes that I got out of my DC diagnostic manual.

JV, Thanks for the list. Do you have any idea what a VIN checksum error is? I cannot find a thing anywhere on the internet. Thanks again.

My "guess" is that it was just a momentary glitch unless it keeps comming up. Get same type of related P-Trouble code occasionally. Usually does not mean anything. If it is a real error of that type you would know for sure.
