The lights can be very cheap I think advanced has a set for like $20 with a template

I'm going to have the clear ones installed Im thinking under $150 ... ... ... . Contracting out Because of leaking issues ..... that way I get a garentee

supposably if u drop the headliner, the steel is stamped out with the holes for mounting them all u have to do is drop the headliner and punch your holes from the inside. some people have said the templates with certain kits are incorrect.

The dodge rams Have two sheets of steel you get the outer skin and the inner skin if you want to put lights in you can drill in to both layers or just the outer layer but if you seal it it should not leak. Have fun.

My truck will not leak for months. Then sitting in the driveway one day after a rain you drive out and it pours water from the overhead console  The dealer had it three times. Replaced the little washers at the screws, then replaced the washers and lens, then replaced everything. Still does it every once in a while. I should go up there with a caulking gun and ten tubes of silicone.

Got the dealer invoice right here in front of me from December of '04 for the install on my '01:

2. 20 tech hours install $143

Light kit 1034002 $ 85

Got the capability to do it myself, just wanted it done right.

But then, I'm fortunate to have a dealer whose tech's have it together.

I bought a set from the dealer for the 3rd gen trucks so the template that came with them didn't line up to well on my truck but it's not hard to figure out. I installed them myself in about 3-4 hours. I bought the 3rd gen lights because I like them better.

I did it myself and it was really easy. I just followed the template instructions and the hardest part was making the first hole. Mine did leak once, but after a small dab of silicone on all the screw heads there hasn't been any leaks anymore.

I think I payed under $100 for the kit from my dealer.

i got my set from jc whittney, 40 bucks and there OE parts. when you pull your head liner down, you'll see where its marked to drill holes. the kit came with all lenses, bulbs, relays, harness, and switch to complete the job. hope that helps.

What does it cost to add the cab clearence lights? Any concerns of them leaking?

You're looking around $80. 00 from the dealer. You won't regret buying them from the dealer with all needed accessories. I've had my chicken lights (clearance lights) on about five years and never any problems with them leaking. However, I would buy the touch up paint that comes in a finger nail polish like bottle for the holes you drill. You can also get the touch up paint at the dealer vin matched.

Good luck

I think the dealer is definatly the way to go on this accessory. It will come with everything you need and all the necessary instructions and templates. In my opinion $80 was a bargin.

Does the OEM kit from DC come with the wiring harness for those lights as well?? It would be nice to have a "plug and play" installation, especially at under a hundred bucks! :D

Yes, it does come with all the wiring hardware. Also, the template comes with

neat little alignment indicators to get a nice symmetrical mount.

Any idea what type of bulb they take? APC makes clear lenses and mirrored bulbs so the yellow won't show thorugh unitl they are on. I don't know how it would look. I'm thinking about that, sport headlights and clear corner lenses with the mirrored bulbs. It should be a clean look with the black on silver i'm going for.
