Cab filter install question

I bought the cab filter kit from Genos garage and I'm wondering if anyone else has bought one. They supply screws to hold the filter down,but there is nothing for the screws to bite on. It appears that they expect the screws to hold the filter down with the plastic mesh. The filter sits on top of the plastic mesh and I don't see how the filter would stay put. I was thinking about removing the cowling and put some type of brace for the screws to bite on. How do I remove the plastic cowling? If I had to do it all over again,I would not buy this filter again,looks kind of goofy sitting on top of the cowling. Any help or suggestions would be great.
