I bought a cab light kit from the dealer the other day and I have the lights mounted, but I can't figure out where to plug the harness in for power. The kit talks about a brown connector but I think that's for newer trucks.

Has anybody installed cab lights in their 12-valve? Where do I plug the lead into the relay panel? Or... which wire can I tap for headlight power?

Thanks,

-john

If I remember right, the "hook up" wire runs down the A pillar on the passenger side. It "might" be yellow/power, and black/ground. If all else fails, you can use a "fuse tap" on the parking lamp fuse.

Thanks Jim. I found a post last night that helped. I ran the power wire down the driver's side A-piller, removed the bezel and accessed the headlight wiring behind the switch. The black wire w/ yellow tracer is the parking light power. I just tapped that wire.

how much did you give for the cab lights? RECON makes a clear cab light set, complete with gaskets, and harnesses. Did you at least get the cab lights for the 01's?? The more aerodynamic style lights are what I am talking about... If I could post pics on here, I would, but no matter how small I make them, they are still too big.

I made my own harness, connected them to the instrument panel light, so I can dim them and brighten them; well at least before I put the clear lenses and LED's in. If you need any help, feel free to PM me, as I fabricated my own harness. It was cheaper that way, and looks don't really matter when you can't see what's going on... Good luck to you, and installing the lights!

Hey, Chris. I paid $98 at the dealer - too much I know. On a search, I found some old threads (2001) where people were buying them for about $60. It's an hour from my house to the dealer so once I got there I didn't want to leave empty handed. Plus, I figured since I was doing it myself I was still coming out ahead. I didn't get the newer style, I actually like the older taller lights.
