Power Steering Pump going bad?

Hey yall,

Can anyone confirm if the roofs on the 4th gen rams are aluminum or not? I think that they are but just wanted to make sure. Found a guy that can help me weld the holes in my roof so that I can remove my cab lights. I keep having issues with bad parts and lights failing after only a few weeks so I just want to remove them since they aren't going to be functional.

I wouldn't do that.
What kind of lights are you using?
I have the upgraded OEMs and they work for the last eight years, no leaks, not even a bulb went out for almost 80K Miles.

That's only my humble opinion.

Interesting I have a set of Mopar ones I picked up for my 2nd Gen, that were the 10-18.

I see the wording on there now says fits like the OEM ones.

I did get my Mopar ones from Genos, maybe 2 yr ago, maybe they are not OEM anymore?

Never did get around to installing them. My 2nd gen are pretty faded and shot but do not leak.

Either way you might want to try one of these from Geno's, as a last resort before you weld them up.

Mine are some Amazon special that I have purchased many times before for other truck and never had an issue and now I have problems.

Looks like I might have to swap over to genos. My current lights have 24leds in them and are prebuilt. No bulb to replace, have to replace entire light assembly.

You can get actual OEM from Amazon. I keep trying to post a link but it gets whipped out. Just do a search on google for "mopar oem cab lights" and it will show up.

The cab roof panel is not aluminum on your 2012 4th gen. The only aluminum on our trucks was introduced in 2019 (4.5gen) with the flimsy aluminum hood. All door skins, door body, cab, hood, quarter panels, bed and tailgate are steel 2018 on down. The 2019+ 1500's have aluminum hoods and tailgates.

So, going in a somewhat different direction, what's wrong with the lights?

I drilled and installed Black LED clearance lights on my former 2003 Ram 2500 about 10 years ago and they STILL work for my niece. Got mine off Ebay.

I would even get OEM housings and install LED bulbs in them before messing up the truck.

Anyhoo, that's my input.

Cheers, Ron

These lights I bought a week ago, I was extremely careful into how I removed the old ones, cleaned the surface, applied silicone to the bottom of lights and foam pad that came with as well as gasket maker under the roof and dabs of gasket maker to run the wires and mounting screws through just like I did with my old ones. I also made extremely sure to just tighten the screws till they stopped with little effort and then gave an 1/8" further turn.

After 3 days of Install I have condensation and several lights are working on and off within the 24 panel LEDs lights. Each light has an led board with 24 little less on it.

I want to remove these and run a solid LED strip again and I liked it better and they lasted much longer. Got 4years out of it instead of 2. See roof and sides of truck . I want to go back to that style. But I'm thinking if it's going to be too much effort to fix I won't

I think you over did with all your sealant and stuff, as any light they need to be able to breath. With all and everything sealed they can't do that anymore.
Just fit them with the provided seal and they will be thight.
