Hello. The cab on my 2004.5 CTD quad cab 4x4 is getting very rusty. I purchased a complete rust free cab from a 2003 Hemi gas 2wd truck. Has anyone here done such a swap. It looks like I will probably have to switch the dash over at minimum. My current truck is plane with roll up windows, manual seats, and no overhead display. The 03 cab is an SLT with all the goodies except heated leather. Will I be able to use the power seats and power windows? Are these plug and play when I swap my Dash over? Does anyone have any useful pointers? Thanks. Erik.

I think you'll have to use a proper TIPM/BCM to make all the goodies work.
Also I'm not sure if the cable harness is the same.

But i do not see that it is not possible to make it work.

Maybe someone with more knowledge then me can tell you more.

It should work, but you may need to use your wiring. The gas harness will most likely be different under the hood, but similar in the cab with the exception of the added equipment on the SLT. Probably best to strip the wiring out of both, lay them side by side and see what is different. If anything is different between the two that is controlled by the FCM you may not be able to have it programmed to work with your OEM FCM. Get the option sheets printed for both VIN's and compare each sales code for both trucks to see what equipment is different.

Will do. I'm just a little surprised that no one on here has done or documented this yet. I think I'm going to tackle this in late May or June. I'm sure there will be some surprises and head scratching going on.

I ave similar questions for proposed swap/conversion of an 01 SLT v-10 to go to diesel 24 valve. Gotta wonder if diesel computer can be used with gas harness? Can 2 computers run simultaneously so dash/ heat, A/C, cab functions like light delays, auto door locks, trans, brake interlocks work and engine still runs?

I recently swapped cabs on my 2006. Diesel cabs are different, at least 2006. The floors are where the difference is. The Tunnel and such are different.

are you sure the tunnel was for a manual and you have an auto or the tunnel was an auto and your diesel was a manual?

I have started the swap and found that the wiring between the 2 is quite different, or at least appears to be so far. Does anyone have the actual wiring diagrams for the Dashes on these 2 trucks? It looks like just swapping the dash isn't going to do it. The plugs are all similar but all the wiring between the 2 is differently colored. Also, there is a lot more wiring in the SLT truck (not surprising). I really need the wiring diagrams to figure out what runs what from the dash and the in cab harness itself. If someone has these please let me know. The only other option is to pull all the power option goodies out of the 03 and install all the manual stuff from the 04.5 which would be a real bummer. Also Hart 0516, where was the difference in the tunnel? My 03 was 2wd but there just a plate I have to unbolt on the tunnel to install my transfer case shifter.

I downloaded mine entirely from the Net, search for service/workshop manual pdf on google.
There is a manual for every production year, they are all different.

I looked in the wiring diagram for both and found that they are in fact different. One example is the wiring going to the airbag control module. It looks like I will have to strip the entire wiring harness from the rusty 2004.5 and install in in to the 2003 cab. Kind of a bummer both with the work involved and losing all those gadgets. Does anyone know if in fact the cabs are actually different on these 2 years? So far it all looks the same to me.

Can't say about any differences between 2003 and 2004, but according to the parts fiche, the floor pans between the gas and the diesel are the same, but the sound dampeners on the transmission tunnel are different, 55350992AC for gas, 55365016AB for diesel.

Front fender "SHIELD, Air Intake," 55276920AA for gas, two piece for diesel, 55277011AA and 55277014AA.

The firewall insulation is different, 55350873AF for gas, 55350892AE for diesel. Dash panel insulation, 55350881AE for gas, 55365042AA for diesel. These might be different due to differences in the underlying firewall, they don't list a firewall part.
