I am getting some water in the cab on the drivers side on my 97 reg cab. I'm looking at trying a new piece of weather strip and hope it solves the problem. Anyone else had similar problem

Fatboy,

Believe it or not, it's probably your cargo/backup light above the rear window. Mind did that so bad it was squishy on the driver's side and that's what it was. The gasget is cheap and it's an easy fix. I cleaned up surface with denatured alcohol before installing the new gasket. No leaks of any kind since then.

Yes I know another Dodge owner that had the sliding window leak.
My seal on rear window was leaking, fixed under warranty.
the cargo/brake light another good possibility.
Remove as much interior as possible.
Get a water hose, start low work your way up the window seals then across until you notice water inside of truck or leaking in from seal( don't forget the cargo/brake light). If you don't find leak on back side check all other sides. The water mite get thru on oneside of seal but come out opposite side so take your time watering it down.

I was getting the carpet soaked at the passenger seat.

I would have sworn it came from the door or A/C unit.

Nope.

I checked the top of the rear window... there was a gap big enough to stick my pinkie through.

I squirted black RTV sealer into the gap on both sides and anywhere else (on top) that I saw a gap. Hasn't leaked since. and the carpet smells better.

Yup,

Cargo light. I replaced the original gaskets, then added a bead of clear silicone caulk around the lens, too. No leaks since. If a bulb ever needs replacement (not gonna happen) I can remove the lens again by just removing the screws, and running a length of 50 pound test fishing line (with a "sawing motion") behind the lens from one side to the other.

No leaks since this was done. Dry as a BONE!
