I was thinking of purchasing a palomino bronco 1500 popup style cabover camper. My truck has a KORE recon suspension on it. The camper dry is 1577 do you think the suspension is gonna handle it. WIll the increased truck height make it tougher to drive in wind. Thanks in advance

I have a Sportsmen camper about the same as yours and my truck handles it very well. I ddo have the towing package and the camper package as well as the handling package. Side winds can be felt of course, but the truck tracks just fine. and it does not engage the overloads on smooth pavement.

Timely question. I have a early Kore Chase system on my '99 2500 reg. cab. 4wd. Unladen I loved the Kore setup but upon loading my 1700# wet Northstar popup it was a handling nightmare. Extreme sway and suspension bottoming(no overloads) were the norm. I remedied the situation with airbags and a gracious revalving by Sean Lorenz of the rear shocks. I am running the Bilstein 7100's with this kit. Sean's revalving made all the difference in the world. I'm transferring the camper to my '07 this weekend and am researching which way to go. the stock overloads are worthless until you get an extreme load in it or really bottom out the suspension. Remember that lifting the frontend alters the center of gravity sending it upward and rearward when compared to stock. I miss the aftermarket suspension in my '07 and hope to decide upon the right setup. P. S. Go with "E" rated tires also. Dramatically reduced sidewall flex.

thanks for the advice. It looks like If I go with the camper I will remove the Kore suspension and go back to stock and add on airbags.

I highly suggest you load the camper on the truck as is and see how you like it.

I have KORE's suspension on my '01. Not sure what system it is called but it has the mini-pack springs and the Bilstien 5100 shocks in the rear. I am not real fond of the rear spring setup with the truck empty. The Back end is even stiffer than stock was. With my 1500# pop-up camper in the bed it is perfect. I have less sway than I did with the stock springs and air bag set-up. Because there is no longer an overload spring that is drastically changing your spring rate as the suspension moves up and down (and the overloads move against and away from the stops) things are much more consistant. It sounds as if not everyone is having the same results as I am though.

hey phil thanks for the advice. How do you like living in central oregon. I enjoy taking fishing trips up there from time to time. This spring I am planning a trip to paulina lake when it opens.

Its -6 degrees here this morning! Arizona is looking much better than Central Oregon today! Come July my opinion will be very different. That is also about when you will be able to get up to Paulina lake this year.

I have stock suspension with Bilstein shocks and I haul a Shadow Cruiser pop up truck camper. Weighs 1200 pounds empty and I do 80 on the highway with it and never notice its back there.
