I have been doing allot of searches and reading lately, and I have a question.

I have a 2001. 5 auto that I am adding and Edge EZ to. The EZ no longer comes with the hardline kit to achieve higher boost.

I am trying to rig something that will accomplish the same thing as the "boost elbow". Would it be possible to drill an orifice in the 22 shell casing similar to the size in the boost elbow that comes with the EZ? Would it work the same way?

With the EZ acting as a boost fooler and delivering more fuel to the engine cause higher boost levels than stock anyway? Or will the stock waste-gate keep it down to 20psi?

I am thinking something in the 25 to 30 psi range will be quite sufficient. I don't want "hot boost" or blown head gaskets, just enough air to control EGTs when towing.

Thanks

I had the same questions, and same problems. I'm sure that someone, will suggest a different turbo, and that is the direction I am going to go. In the mean time... I first turnbuckled the waste gate so that it would not open. With just the Mach 1. 5's and the comp box off, I could easily zing the turbo to 32psi. I do mean zing! Didn't like that, so I purchased a J-hook from Piers. With the spring that was supplied I would get about 23 psi. Without the J-hook I was getting 21psi. I wanted a little more, so I purchased (from a hardware store), a higher tension spring, and got 25psi. That seems to work pretty good, with the Mach 1. 5's, and even with the Comp box on 1. Just as a side note when I put the Comp box on 5x5, the boost will go to 30, and the EGT's start climbing at a pretty rapid rate. That's the reason I'm going to a different turbo. With just the EZ and a J-hook set to 25, I think you will be fine. If you decide to go bigger, start looking for another turbo.

I am doing mine right now. The Bully dog Torque Dog came with the fitting. Have yet to really open it up to see if that is what I need to use or if a elbow is my case. I have been searching around too, on the how too install on line. I can find all the info I want on the elbow. But none on the hardline. So I could use a little help too. The DDIIs I am installing will need the boost to help clean things up. Stock boost presure is just about 20psi, 19. 5 if you really want to get tech... ... ... ... . lol. That won't change until the gate is changed.

I got the EZ in. The hole in the boost elbow is around . 020 to . 018 inches, very small. After I get my gauges in I will experiment with drilling orifices in 22 shells in the hardline for wanted boost levels (25 to 28psi).

I'll let you know if this works later on...

I got the Gauges (boost/egt) installed yesterday plus the EZ. I am going to try out the truck like this for a while before I mess with it any further. I'll post back when I start tinkering with boost levels.

I got around to looking at things closer, I wasn't hard lined after all. Threw in a boost elbow and the DD2s and now boost is 36psi. You would think you could get the hard line kit from them if you called Edge Products, just an idea.

Back in the day of monkeying with the hardliner turbos and . 22 shells I want to say that a 8/32 or a #3 drill bit was the magic bit.

Those along with DD3's got 42 lbs If memory serves. That lil HY turbo sure becomes a barker tho :-laf :-laf
