Is it possible for the dealer to recalibrate the overhead mileage computer so it agrees with my hand calculated mileage. Currently my overhead reads ~25 MPG when I am actually getting ~20. It seems to be a linear error that increases as my mileage increases (as on long trips). I have averaged 16. 85 MPG over 7500 miles of city/highway combined driving.

2006 Ram 2500 4X4 CTD, basically stock. Stanadyne Performance Formula 8 oz. per fill-up.

No, there's just no way to recalibrate the lie-o-meter from what my dealer told me.
FWIW, mine is all over the place, sometimes it's even right on the money but thats rare. I even used my Smarty Jr. to calibrate my speedo (verified with GPS) and nothing changed on the OH.

If you don't reset it with every fill, it will average the fuel consumption over the all the miles you have since resetting it.

The sad thing is that my ScanGauge II which plugs into the OBDII slot once calibrated is to the tenth of a gallon on fill up and this is topping off fuel all the up to the cap. So why can't Chrysler do it the computer is calculating it fairly close?????

Your truck is not stock so the overhead will not be accurate,on a stock truck they are with-in 10%

Yea, I realize that too. When everything is stock, the LOM is . 5 to 5MPG off. So it's not anywhere close to 10% sometimes and frankly, 10% is a fail IMO.
Also fwiw, if my Smarty is set to the timing only position then the LOM is more accurate.

I should clarify that when I run it in the timing only setting and I'm towing, the LOM is usually within . 3 or so MPG. I don't know how close it is with that setting when i'm not towing.
