Well I live in Arizona, and it looks like our Goverment is pushing to use the California emmissions deisel fuel. All I know at this point ia that it will raise the price of a already high deisel fuel.
Does anyone have anymore info on this crap? I am really concerned if it is harmful to my cummins engine. If our state forces us to use this fuel, it will be jsut a matter of time until it will be in the neck of our woods too.

I have been using California diesel for a little over four years and have traveled out of state with my rigs and I don't notice any difference in fuels. Still runs like a Cummins should. #ad

By the way it is low Sulpher fuel.

I too have been using it for the past 3 years and when I travel out of state, I don't notice any difference. But I do use a fuel additive from a company called Schaffers, and I can tell the difference when I don't use the additive. .

I work for a large construction company and in CA. we use thousands of gallons of the low sulfur fuel with no additives and no problems, even in older off highway equipment, it just is more expensive.

Fuel, Milk and Eggs!

Notice how much more they cost in California? Why is this? Eggs are double the cost of anywhere else. Does it cost a buck a dozen to ship them in? I don't think so. They can always explain away fuel increases under the excuse of 'refining' but they can't do that with eggs. #ad

Everything is MORE EXPENSIVE in California! #ad

Thought I would jump in and say I have noticed diesel fuel price dropping in my local, now paying $1. 73. 9

It's lower sulpher so it burns cleaner, but the lubericity is down a bit, so use a little of your favorite additive.

If you want to see high prices come to San Diego County. This seems to be the testing ground for how far you can push prices.

It was fuel - excuse was refinery hickuped - still was less in L. A.

They just tacked on a new water useage charge.

Now not only have electricity charges tripled, they are threatening black outs and asking that Holiday decorations be turned off during certain hours.

BTW I heard that California passed Wisconsin as the #1 dairy producer. If that includes eggs it stands to reason they figure we will pay for those too.

If that isnt enough, Gov. Gray Davis made deals with every lobbyist to get elected and sent the cost of business up a bunch more. It really galls me to think the cost of his election is coming out of my pocket!! #ad

Now that I'm through with that harrange, I will say there's no snow and it's supposed to hit near 80 degrees this weekend. #ad
I didn't even know what a cold front was when I read those posts. #ad

I guess I'll suck it up and pay for the weather.

Rodney,

That's what you get for living out in the weeds where if you have a wild life problem it's most likely a bear and not some rowdy doper. You could always move to LA if you want cheaper fuel. #ad

One thing about Northern CA fuel is that it's clean. I checked my prefilter yesterday. I very seldom do that since it's a waste of time. It was sparkling clean except for something that looked like a bug's carcas. 152K+ miles on it now. I've increased my regular fuel filter change interval quite a bit. The last one I removed is in my boonie box to use as a spare just in case the one I'm running plugs up. The one before last I cut appart. It looked like it had never been used. No water in the fuel that I've been able to detect since the truck was new.

I shop for fuel by price, just gas stations that I have a credit card for and have diesel. However, the best price I've been able to find lately is in Willits, $1. 86. #ad
It was $2. 05 at a Texaco a while back and I was really low so I had to stop. $70 to fill up. GAD!!!

I've only noticed a diff in fuel in montana-- seltaine additive- #ad
#ad
I'm from the sf bay area ca fuel ran the same as az fuel- as for price- I'm within 15 miles of 5 refineries and diesel fuel prices are still higher than if I go to the central valley which have been 10- 45 cents cheaper per gal #ad
Don't fret the feds have already messed with your truck-- trucks sold in california bordering states have a special epa package not as bad as us fools in the peoples republic of california- but you have some smog goodies that midwestern and the eastern states don't have #ad
if you don't believe me check kelley blue book look at the order options and you'll see that option (kinda opens your eyes)----Don't fear the tree huggers are a commin, just as soon as they can figure out how to hug a cactus-the pricks #ad

Hey Joe G, that station in Willits the one on the north side of town across from the school?

Not that one. I haven't stopped there yet. I use the 76 station at the south end of town. It's a lot easier to get in and out of. The one at the north end oposite the school is usually two cents cheaper. Actually, I give the guys at the 76 my business for another reason than price. My wife is handicapped and has a hard time getting help at most stations. The guys at the 76 are right there at the car door in case the driver needs some help.

I've never figured out the way diesel is priced in CA. In the cities it's priced at or above premium gas. In the little bergs in the boondocks it's priced at or below the cheapest gas.

I buy from only one station in Chico. High volune and never a water problem. They are at $1. 89 at this time, but the jippo stations arnt much less. I dont need the stress of the "water in fuel" light coming on while getting ready to leave town. Been ther, done that. I only buy on the road at truck stops like Flying J or simillar places. I have enough problems with my rig, so fuel dosnt need to add to it.

Rodney,

I have noticed that the closer I get to I5 the higher the price. It was $2. 05 at the Texaco in Williams and $1. 86 in Willits last weekend. Both towns on SR20. It's been a while since I was over in your neck of the woods. I did notice that the price at the Chevron at Old Station was the same as the price in Eureka the last time I was thru there. Both were less than what I had been paying in Sacramento. Gas was more expensive than diesel in the little towns and less expensive than Diesel in Sacramento. Still can't figure that out.
