Looking for help... . just finished installing new ART rotors on the hubs and the calipers. One side caliper has some free play to it (aprox 1/32"). The other side will move the 1/32 side to side but only with a srewdriver, it is not free to move like the other side.
I removed it 3 times and it loosens up freely with the "wedge and spring" removed about 3/4 of the way. The sliding points of the caliper and caliper support are wire brushed and greased.

It seems like the spring and wedge put too much pressure on the caliper in the support. I don't get it- am I missing a trick? I didn't notice how much free play that I had when I took it apart.

I'm worried to reinstall the caliper being that tight that will cause the piston not to release or a pad to be to tight on the rotor. These are new calipers from EGR 12,000 miles ago... . I ended up with a warped rotor... . maybe from this problem.

well today I measured all the machined ways and took everything apart again. Everything was in spec so I bled the brakes and checked again. Both calipers feel the same and there isn't any brake drag as both rotors can be turned by hand with the same force needed.

I think what happened was that on the one side I had retracted the caliper piston further that the other which gave the caliper more room to move. Once the brakes were cycled everything was the same.
Now to bed in the new rotors to the pads... ...

I greased all the zerks with my new Lincoln grease gun- that gun is really nice.
