Just wanting to share/vent a bit. Just replaced the calipers again:( Did them in September 01, 15k ago. Started tugging a few months later. Rebuilt right side 2 weeks ago (tug to side) was ok until Friday then wrestle time. Called the place I bought them at and was told they were LIFETIME'ersOo. Of course I didn't tell them I rebuilt one of their units. So I took off the right side to return. On the way I started to get upset as I don't like replacing only one side of the brakes, especially the front. Explained to parts guy he said the other side was in stock, I asked if this was covered? He asked if the left was defective also. I thought for a moment . . . about the soon to come family trip to the Grand Canyon and told a white tale answering "YEP!" He gave me full credit when I returned the left side. :D

These are loaded remans @ $50 ea. I was surprised they were that cheap when I first bought them. I didn't know about greasing the landings and filing burrs down until LSMITH gave me a few tips. The place that remans these things ought to take some of LSMITH's advice too. I had to file down burrs on both of the units I just installed. One of them (of course the right one) Even had such a big burr where the tab on the piston side pad fits I had to tap the pad out with a hammer! No wonder they're covered for lifetime:mad:

Lesson learned - inspect everything yourself before installing it.

Sorry for the long - hope someone can benefit from it

Texas - sorry no digital camera yet. Still living in the stone age - haven't convinced the wife that we need one yet. Pecking away at her though.

The burrs were where the calipers slide on the mount (not sure what it's called) and what was really troubling was the big hunk of metal that had to be filed off where the piston side pad (big tab on top of pad) fits. It's hard to paint the picture - really need the digital camera.

I get the idea now, the caliper binds on the pins.

Digi cams are handy, think of all the dollars you can save on developing and time wasted on picking them up. When she caves in, email me I have some photo software I can send you.

I have had both sides replaced twice (under warranty) on my 99 2500. Now has 40k miles. Also had the entire steering column replaced but that is a whole different story. :-{}
