OK guys looks like i am buying a jeep down in Arkansas. I priced out my fuel and time and think it might come out cheaper hiring a car transport comp.

Any ideas on where i should start.

Anyone on here interested?

Any info would be great.

Arkansas to northern jersey or tristate area. Always could meet 8 hours out to make this happen. Will work with you if you need it.

Philip:rolleyes:

if interested let me know ASAP

I know alot of guy's don't like Uship.com But I am willing to bet that you will get a price nobody will beat from there . it's filled with broker's

If you want an insured outfit to move your Jeep your best bet would probably be to do a google search for "auto transporter" and hire one of the big nationwide companies.

Having been an RV transporter myself and being familiar with the costs involved and also having seen a few dozen posts similar to yours over the years I can tell you it is unlikely you will find anyone who will do the job for you at less than it would cost you to make the trip yourself.

A big nationwide transport company will do it cheaper because they will coordinate your move with many other moves and haul a full transport trailer load which is profitable to them and advantageous to you. They should be insured. The only disadvantage is it might take a couple of weeks to get it delivered.

Only a dummy is going to drive and pull a trailer to haul just your Jeep unless he happens to be near your point of puchase and planning to travel to or beyond your desired delivery point.

Consider the basics: If I lived near the point where you are buying the Jeep and was interested in doing the haul for you I would have to pull a trailer roundtrip from AR to NJ and back to AR. I wouldn't do it for less than $1/mile loaded and unloaded and I would not have commercial cargo insurance to protect you. It wouldn't be real profitable but I could make a few bucks. Anyone who would agree to do it for less would, IMO, be cheating himself. Fuel, tolls, motels, meals, and wear on the truck cost money.

You might get lucky and find someone trustworthy who wanted to travel that route and would drive it for you but if you don't know them personally . . . could be a mistake.

COOL THANKS FOR THE INFO. looks like fuel will be 450 plus my time on the road.

will look into the nation wide comp. i dont have to have it tomarrow i can wait so that is no big deal.

Thanks guys.

Harvey is right. You should be able to get it done for 600. 00 or less. Going rate for snowbirds northeast to south Fl. last year were 450. 00 to 650. 00 depending on company.
Good Luck Capt. Phil

Philip,
750. 00 isn`t a bad price. I took a look at a ball park on your miles. I don`t know how far you have to go into Ark. But even if it is in eastern Ark. you are going to have to sleep in the truck and remember NJ has a lower fuel price than any state you are going through. Your fuel prices on the road are going to be 3. 30 or higher as the stuff is still going up. Your best route to central Ark. will be I-287s to I-78w to I-81s to I-40w to Memphis Tenn. Be sure of the weather because I-40 across Tenn. this time of the year can get ICE real quick.
Good Luck Capt Phil
