calling all chrysler techies......(re 47 &48 re)

does any one know if the 48 re and the 47 re are swappable directly? will one simply bolt up into place of the other one? are ther any wiring differences? anything? any help would be appreciated.

As far as I know, yes. They are no longer making the 47RE.

trans swap

I have had much trouble with my 47re. complete swap out and then a valve body replaced. I wanted the same thing a new 48re. I was told that the computer had to be reprogrammed and the electrical switch on the left side is totally different than the one on the 47re. (different plug in type) May can be spliced in or and adapter made if you had the right fittings

I too have had many problem with the 47RE in my 03' 3500 DRW. It started with the drain back valve being defective and it overheating and burning up the overdrive gear. DC was not willing to do a complete trans change out. After 4 visits I saw a lawyer, now they have bought it back and have gone to the HO with the 6 speed - on order.
