Was wanting some feed back on these turbos. I called industrial injection today and ask them what turbo they would recommend with my mods?

Mods:

II CP3

TST PMCR 49 w/pres

80 HP injectors (Scheid Diesel)

Street Cam (Scheid Diesel)

Goerend Bros Trans

So my question to you guys out there is this a good set up, how is the lag and will I keep my EGT's down. Will it be good to tow with and how are they daily driven.

I have been trying a turbo from Scheid but have not had any luck, it surges all the time, and had a crack in the exhaust housing. I sent it back to Scheid so they could change a few things to make it better (get rid of surge) and to change exhaust housing. Well I got it back and it has the same exhaust housing with the same crack in it. So I decided to be done with that turbo, and I am in the business for a new one and wanting your input on which way to go.

I will be pulling a 30ft inclosed trailer, not sure on the weight, and daily driving plus doing a few truck pulls!

Thanks guys for all of your help!!!

i think the silver bullet would suit you very well. that turbo was designed not to have the same surging as the other 66 turbos. it also spools very well. i think that it will be a great turbo for your needs, while keeping the egt's in check.

THe HTT ProStreet 66 is also a good turbo to go with. I have seen some nice dyno numbers and no surging problems with a stick or auto trucks here running them.

good luck on trying to tow with it! I think youll be in the same boat with it surging just like you other turbo did.

Hey wondering what there would be that would be better then? Thanks for the replys! Keep'em cummin!

SPS or SB 62, or twins would be best for towing.

I cant keep my 66 from surging while pulling my snowmobile trailer under 2k RPM's, plus I have a six speed which is an advantage over your tight auto.

Its fine for daily driving but with some weight behind you it has alot to be desired IMO.

I have a super phat shaft 66 and if I was towing heavy alot I would not have this size turbo I would go with something smaller our twins. . I get alittle surge if I tow heavy at low rpms

Gaskicker came in and decided on a Silver Bullet. We told him that the Super Phat Shaft 62/80 would be a better fit. He insisted. We installed it and after a few days he came back in. He said he may have made a mistake. I went for a ride with him and after making some fuel adjustments he was very impressed. He has loved towing with it ever since. He tows heavy backhoes and bobcats with it. I run a Silver Bullet and tow with mine. If I pull the engine RPM down to 1700rpm under heavy load I can make a little surge. I find that my power is better at 2000rpm and above so it is never an issue. Mattymac, Gaskicker and myself all run 04. 5 Dodge trucks with 6 speeds. Mattymac is right, if you want the ability to tow at lower RPM's then the SPS62/80 or even better the Silver 62/80 would be awsome. I tow heavy and love the Silver Bullet. I do tow fast however and have tuned my truck with the SB turbo. I don't know if this helps but this information is staight forward and no BS. Good Luck with your quest.

Snoxracer, for your mods and what you intend to do with your truck, I believe if it were me I would go with the 62/80. It spools a little quicker, thus better low end power without surge, as compared to the 66 series "silver Bullet" which comes on stronger at the higher rpm range. Thus for everyday driving, towing and occasional truck pulling the 62/80 would be the best all around choice.

The Silver Bullet 66 will work. However, you need to adjust your driving/towing habits accordingly. Use your RPM, don't pull the RPM below about 2100 with the trailer on. Just gear down when needed.

Better choices may be:

Silver Bullet 62 and a bottle for fun. (Great spool, may run a bit warmer, but will make plenty of power with the juice)

OR go with a SPS 66 w/ported housing. (Still need to watch RPM, just not as closely)

Due to the larger turbine used on the Silver Bullet, the turbine need more air flowing across is to drive the turbo. This however translates into great flow and cooler temps. You just need a bit more RPM to get it spooled.

How about a 62 and a better intercooler to help drop EGTs

Or a set of twins and just have the best of both worlds? Fast spool, no surging, and cool egt's and big power DAY TO DAY.

So then what would be a good set of twins? If I get twins does that mean I have the best of both worlds? Quick spooling, low egts, and won't surge while towing? I have been seriously considering twins, because I really something that is driven everyday but has some power too?

Thanks again guys!

Most people go overboard with twins here IMO, you dont have to go big with them to have big power. One of the best bolt on kits I have seen are the BD S300's, I have seen them on the dyno, strip, pulling sleds and driven them, they are very fast spooling, cool great, clean looking, bolt on install and will tow extremely well. I watched Jason (dieselnut) run mid to low 12's all day long on fuel only on about 50 lbs with 11-1200 deg egts' with his 06 to then have enough power to burn up a full billet race trans, that worked flawless all day! He was spooling up at the start and his twins took off to about 40 PSI while not moving! OUCH! His truck impressed me to say the least.

There are alot of diffrent twin combos out there, BD, Arctic air's, Piers, Olee pools, II, IDaho CTD's... and so on. Just do some homework and it will pay off.
