Hello:

Anyone have any advice on installing a cam in a '92 Dodge CTD? I want to make sure that I don't get it 360 degrees out and I also need to know what letter to time the injection pump gear on. It was broken when I took it apart, the cam that is, so I do not know how it was originally timed. Any advice/ideas highly appreciated.

Thanks, Chris

From my Cummins manual; (where in blazes is my Dodge Factory Manual???)

Crank has an 0 and cam gear has two 00's. Place the single 0 on crank between the two 00's of the cam gear. This should have been aligned when you pulled the front cover.

My manual says for a 1992 VE equipped pump (6BTA) the letter is "E"

You may want to verify this.

My 90 Service manual says the letter "E" as well. I will second this motion from personal experience, as I have had the front cover off and had to pull the pump at the same time (coincidental that i had to do both at once. ) I think you can be a gear or so off, as long as you have your pump locked where it needs to be when installing everything.
