Does anyone have the thread about what size bolts/screws are needed to replace the tamper bolt and the other 3 on the cover? I had it bookmarked but my comp has died since then.

Thanks

Kyle

M6 x 1. 0 thread. top 2 can be 16 or 18 mm long (if 18 use the stock 2 washers to avoid bottoming out), bottom 2 with the fuel solenoid bracket are 25 mm long.

O. K. new problem. I moved the plate forward slightly and was tinkering to put one of the new metrics in and dropped it. It could be in the pump or outside but I can't find it. I'm riding on an adrenaline high from hell right now.

I've dredged the bottom on the pump about twelve times now to try and find the screw and nothing comes up. What do I do? I need it back together by monday morning in posssible. I don't know where it could have gone. I can't find it on the ground or in the engine compartment.

I knew this would happen. @#$%#@%$^#$^#$&$#^*#%@#$%$#@*%$^)!!!!!!!

Hmmm... if the new metric screw is stainless steel its probably non-magnetic... in which case it could be right in there but your magnet would fish up nothing. If it was me, my next steps would be:

1. Use a mirror plus a very bright flashlight to inspect inside the best you possibly can. If you're lucky its there and you can reach it with a needlenose plier. Even better than a needlenose for these situations is a large or medium hemostat (I am never without mine)... a hemostat is basically a physician's version of needlenose pliers, only much narrower, much more precise, and it locks. You can prolly pick one up at any farm supply or animal supply store.

2. Triple-check throughout the nooks and crannies of the engine compartment with a bright flashlight and from many angles, cause boy are you gonna be PO'd if you pull off the pump only to find that screw laying on top of the starter!

Good luck... we've all been there (or somewhere similar) and are rootin' for ya.

The other three are magnetic so i'm o. k. there. I have two hemostats courtery U. K. surplus.

I don't think it's in the pump. I'm just worried it is. I pulled all of the oil out of the pump so I can see and it's not in plain view. I'm having trouble with my lights but i'll work something out.

back out to search some more.
