Cam Plate Mods

Ok Im new in here so i hope i dont offend any vendors. I love to tinker. the cam plate from what ive been reading has certain shapes for certain reasons. all i know about this so far is the governor lever looks like it rides up the shape of the plate when allowed. so heres my questions why is there such a bump on the stock 215 plate? egt's? if i have a 4000 gov kit does the lever get stuck in the bump before it rides all the way up? less fuel?

would i be better of grinding down this bump or so called brow?
