i am about to put a tst power kit on my 95 3500 dually 4x4 (manual trans. ) and am trying to decide what level to have installed. one company tells me to go with an 8 (230hp), another tells me to go with a 6; i'm confused. i pull a 30ft. 5th wheel occasionally, but most of my driving is highway with no trailer. any suggestions?

I put a #8 TST Plate my 96 2500 auto tran's and I'm very satisfied with the results, and the top end power at 55mph is fantastic I can go from 55 to 90 in a few seconds,I try not to use the power at the lower end because I do not want any transmission problems. You have a standared trans you my want to go with a higher plate it is a personel preferance.

It is totally your call. I have a #5 with some other goodies. The higher hp. plates make a pyro, a MUST.

You need to decide what your budget is and how much power you want, because all you want is available for a price.

k. , it's a tough decision, I know, I went with the #8, and it's the correct call for my truck (see sig. ) and how it's used. I pull a backhoe every few weeks, loaded hay trailers, logs and the occasional heavy load of pipe. With no cat of muff, I could hit 1300 degrees as measured pre turbo if I really worked it hard.

This summer I installed 215hp injectors and they really complimented the #8. I also found that while towing about 7,000lbs. in the Rockys, I could hit 1400 and up if I didn't back out of it quickly when above 7,000'. That's with the fuel cam plate in the stock position and a new stock air filter.

But as Paul Harvey would say, "Now for the rest of the story", Now I know that a 4" exhaust, improved air inlet, and a bigger plate are in order, do I hear a #5 calling, and of course the pump spring kit and 370hp injectors, and a 16cm turbo housing and on and on and on and on.

If you haven't already, guages are the first modification you should make, pyro and boost.

Boming, try it, you'll like it.
