I have just replaced a #8 tst cam plate with a #5. I noticed very little power increase-no smoke either. Does anyone have any experience moving the plate forward to increase(towards the front of engine-different than cam plate installer allows) fuel delivery? I plan on installing spring kit sat. and planned on trying different positions for cam plate. Have not touched star wheel-never got smoke with #8 plate either.

1996-3500 tst #5 plate, K&N air filter,4" exhaust,bigger injectors,b&m trans pan,Amsoil all around,temp gauges out the wazzo,much trans work,double tow 33' 5th wheel and 12' trailer w/motorcycle(Honda Valkyarie Interstate)Also have 1999-2500-stock.

I can't believe no has had any experience moving the cam plate around. I spent all morning taking apart stuff in the way of the Injector pump(cam plate area) moved cam plate 4 times . 08" each time. Got best results at . 24" forward of stock. Very little smoke except at standing start pedal to the floor starts. Best 0-60 times also. Better here than with cam plate all the way forward-another . 16". More smoke and 2/10 slower to 60. Before I moved the cam plate forward egt at full throttle accelerating 0-70 got to 1075-1100- now same accelerating climbs to 1300-gotta watch that towing.

I put in a 230/605 plate three years ago and was satisfied with the results. At about 100,000 miles I read the posts here & decided to move plate full forward. I didn't like the results, and I noticed a lot of TC clutch slippage. I moved it back about 1/16" but still a little ahead of the stock position, and it feels just like I want it too. Gobs of torque, a little smoke, and little if any slippage... . DDG

I ordered a 230/605 plate for my 96 5 speed. Put it in & was extremely happy with the high end power. When I passed someone, I'd have to be careful not to run in to their rear bumper. #ad
The low end was poor though. #ad
Sometime later, I ordered up the #11, 280/685 plate. When I went to take out the 230/605 plate, I discovered it was a #8, not a #12. I called Joe D & he said TST says it's way too hot for the 215 pump on the high end & is not recommended.

I took it out & put in the #11. The mid & low range picked up but the top end was not close to the #8. I pulled it back into the garage & slid it all the way forward. Now the #11 was a little better than the #8 on the top end. I called Mark @ TST & he said that on this pump, 96 & 97, expect 40 to 60 hp more with the plate all the way forward. #ad
EGT WILL be higher.

Since then, I've seen the 96 & 97 5 speeds, with the #11 plate all the way forward & 4" exhaust & stock injectors dyno @ ~340 @ the rear wheels. Mark was right, 60hp difference. #ad
The #8 in the middle must have been in the 310 or 320hp range.
